Through activities and guided tours, come and discover the Perron Old Cheese Factory from every angle.
In the heritage setting of the old cheese factory, the exhibition “Through the Threads of Time” highlights another traditional skill: the art of working with thread.
Through an immersive journey, discover an authentic loom—an ancient witness to everyday life in the past, when nothing was wasted and everything was handmade. Weaving was an art, but also a necessity, just like making cheese, bread, or clothing.
Around the loom, the exhibition also presents:
Delicately crafted crochet pieces, made by the Perron family’s daughters, often used to decorate rural homes in the Lac-Saint-Jean region.
Traditional embroidery, symbols of personal expression and the patient artistry of the time.
Old tools such as needles, spools, and shuttles, telling the complete story of thread, from raw fiber to finished fabric.
Period books and everyday objects, along with occasional live demonstrations, enrich this sensitive and inspiring experience.
The exhibition “Through the Threads of Time” is a tribute to simple gestures, skillful hands, and the beauty of forgotten know-how. It is a wonderful opportunity to discover a lesser-known part of our local history, closely linked to the spirit of craftsmanship that still lives within the walls of the old cheese factory.
