You are invited into the living room

Back in those days, the living room was kept closed, thus reducing drastically the family living space. It had an elaborate decor and elegant pieces of furniture. It was reserved for rare events: Easter, Holidays, the visit of the parish priest, etc.

Thérèse also took this picture showing a second cousin, Marie-Paule, visiting Saint-Prime, Marie Brisson and a sister-in-law, Germaine Delisle, in the living room circa 1947.

The mother, Marie, plays on a regular basis the harmonium Bell, since she had learned piano in school with the Ursulines de Roberval. Joseph Perron often retreats in this room. From his office, he does the administration of the cheese dairy. A more intimate bedroom is located at the end of the living room and is reserved to the two oldest girls.

Let’s get out of the living room and take the hallway at the left of the washbowl. This leads to three bedrooms shared between the ten other children.
